t.g.i.f.

~ Whether it’s a chat with our attorney,
or a short converstion with a contractor
or bank teller – it’s apparent that everyone
is anxious about the economy.
How did life in the great USA
get so crappy, so fast?
Charisma doesn’t necessarily
spawn beneficial change.
We shall see.

However, who would expect a vodka company
to come up with a warm fuzzy commercial?
This makes you feel good,
even without a sip of booze…
now, be kind, it won't cost you a dime!

~ Our Little Man, JJF, will celebrate
a birthday this month. Oh, how life
has changed since I was his age.
For instance, our now glitzy
bursting-with-opulent-fun trips to
Las Vegas, would’ve looked like this,
when I was 3:

~ sprinkles of wisdom:
"Don't wait for something big to occur.
Start where you are, with what you have,
and that will always lead you into
something greater".
Mary Manin Morrissey

"Everyone has inside them a
piece of good news.
The good news is you don't
know how great you can be!
How much you can love!
What you can accomplish!
And what your potential is! "
Anne Frank

"Years wrinkle the skin,
but to give up enthusiasm
wrinkles the soul".
Author Unknown

from the darkside:
~ Demon mummies
(from:http://www.pinktentacle.com )
"It might seem odd that Buddhist temples
in Japan house the occasional stray
mummified demon (oni), but then again
it makes sense to keep them under the
watchful eye of a priest, instead of letting
them prowl the streets. Zengyōji (善行寺)
temple in the city of Kanazawa
(Ishikawa prefecture)
is home to the mummified head of a
three-faced demon. Legend has it that
a resident priest discovered the mummy
in a temple storage chamber in the
early 18th century. Imagine his surprise".

~ to end on a light note,
here is a reminder to all
you river rats. we are only a few
months away from our
secret cove. be ready!

happy humpday

~ Enjoying the warm sunny weather – one joy of living in So Cal.

~ State of Calif. not sending out the
students’ CalGrant checks?
Wrong on so many levels;
especially when the State Controller
just spent $2 million on office
cubicles, & who knows what else.

~ Los Angeles hasn’t had a football team
since around 1994. Listen to the buzz about
a possible move back here by the Chargers.
Keep your fingers crossed!

~ We had a special trip for
KK’s birthday lunch.
A hearty, healthy brunch at the
original Follow Your Heart market/café
in Canoga Park. We ate in the sunny patio,
and listened to the sidewalk musician
playing some enjoyable mellow tunes.
I’m happy that KK & her Sisters all like the
essence of wholesome living found there.
I fondly remember trips to that very market,
which is still going strong,
for incense, carob, wheat germ,
and meatless hot dogs ~ back in the day.
College was a great time. Peace!

some sprinkles of wisdom…
"Better keep yourself clean and bright.
You are the window through which
you must see the world."
...George Bernard Shaw

"When one door closes another door opens;
but we so often look so long and so regretfully
upon the closed door, that we do not see
the ones which open for us."
...Alexander Graham Bell

"The world is round and the place which
may seem like the end may also be
only the beginning. " ...Ivy Baker Priest

16. They are life-long learners.
17. They are glass half full people,
while still being practical and down-to-earth.
18. They consistently do what they need to do,
regardless of how they are feeling on a given day.
19. They take calculated risks.
20. They deal with problems quickly and effectively.

~ I wondered how the quartet’s instruments
stayed tuned in the freezing air at the
inauguration. They didn’t.
It was a play-synched performance.
Ha! Amazing.

~ With the need for fitness, there are
healthy trends; such as Personal Trainers
and WiiFit. Here is one for all you dancers::

...the year of the Ox.
People born in the Year of the Ox are patient,
speak little, and inspire confidence in others.
They tend to be eccentric, and bigoted,
and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers.
Although they speak little, when they do
they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally
and physically alert. Generally easy-going,
they can be remarkably stubborn.

Crazy wind & rain today!
36 degrees real feel.
Brrrrr
Miss the lazy days of summer?

~ Seems to be a heavy cold virus invasion.
We like hot green tea, Zicam,
echinacea, elderberry, vitamin C, etc.
Avoid hanging out with sick people,
wash your hands.
Get lots of rest.
Stay healthy.
Santa is coming!

~ The holidays can get hectic.
Running around in the rain
– oops, plop – there’s your cell phone
in a puddle of water!
Here’s a tip::

~ Another holiday meal...
Quick, make the jello.
If you want it to gel,
don’t add these…

fresh pineapple, fresh ginger root,
kiwi, papaya, guava and figs.

~ Happy B-day-1-day BB & DD!
You are bursting with life & wisdom.
Be well. We love you!
Be happy always.

Update on Christmas tree decorating…
found a very willing 3 year old Little Man
