happy humpday...it's freezing!

Crazy wind & rain today!
36 degrees real feel.
Brrrrr
Miss the lazy days of summer?

~ Seems to be a heavy cold virus invasion.
We like hot green tea, Zicam,
echinacea, elderberry, vitamin C, etc.
Avoid hanging out with sick people,
wash your hands.
Get lots of rest.
Stay healthy.
Santa is coming!

~ The holidays can get hectic.
Running around in the rain
– oops, plop – there’s your cell phone
in a puddle of water!
Here’s a tip::

~ Another holiday meal...
Quick, make the jello.
If you want it to gel,
don’t add these…
non-gelatin-friendly fruits include

fresh pineapple, fresh ginger root,
kiwi, papaya, guava and figs.

~ Happy B-day-1-day BB & DD!
You are bursting with life & wisdom.
Be well. We love you!
Be happy always.

Update on Christmas tree decorating…
found a very willing 3 year old Little Man
to help with the delicate shimmering tinsel

A Smile of Note

M.A.N. took a day to join his buddies,
P&Son, on a fishing adventure.
The destination was a secret pier,
& they left at 3:00 A.M.
Now, P. always takes his son on their fishing trips.
Son is confined to a wheelchair,
with many challenges. P. must have
the care & accommodations for his son down pat,
because the only comment I’ve heard,
is that it just takes a little longer, coming & going.
A Dad’s unconditional love & commitment;
a treasured gift.
Early start, the trip was a go.
However, due to an unusual occurrence,
this trip took a bit more time. They encountered
an unanticipated difficult search for live bait.
Apparently, once a year, the local Buddhist Monks
pay a price ( not sure how much) for the privilege
of praying for the lives of the bait fish.
After their prayer ceremony, the bait fish
are released back into the ocean waters.
This made for many unhappy fishermen.
All I could say was, “ All life is precious”.
Despite the bait delay, M.A.N. did
catch one nice Halibut.
He also pulled up a sand shark & a stingray,
which were released. I wish he would’ve
remembered to take pictures with his cell phone.
Maybe next time.
Here’s the Halibut we’re having for dinner…I was cleaning it at 11:00 PM, but decided to reconstruct a bit, & take the picture. So, this reminded me of summers at my cousins’ home in Huntington Beach. Uncle I. would go deep sea fishing, & bring home huge tunas. Auntie T. would have to clean them on the kitchen floor. She would give us all small knives, & we’d sit around the massive fish; slicing off tender chunks of fresh sashimi, & enjoying a little feast, while we watched Auntie T's swift cleaning process. Memories with a smile.

pet peeves

Ø Homes that stink like an ocean of cat piss. Barf.

Ø City crews taking a 2 hr nap

on your parkway,
while they wait for a supervisor
(who is probably asleep somewhere else).
Not on my dime.

Ø Nosey, snoopy, meddling neighbors. myob.

Ø Mail that gets smashed & torn,

because there is too much to fit
in the mailbox. postal pride.

Ø Lazy pigs at the beach, who can’t walk

20 feet to the trash can,
& just leave a pile of filth
where they parked their fat oshiris all day.
gutter rot.

Ø The loud obnoxious cell phone user in the next booth, at your favorite eatery. Shut up.

Ø Parents who buy booze for their under age kids. Baka.

pet peeves

monku, monku, monku...

  • Brilliant to outlaw talking on cell phones while driving, BUT NOT INCLUDE A BAN ON TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. Are you serious???
  • This tragedy happens way too frequently: the mom who took her under 2 yr old toddler shopping, got back home, ‘forgot’ he was in the car seat, & then didn’t noticed him missing until much later, around 5 P.M. Sure, run out to your silent car, with the windows rolled up, boiling in 90+ degree heat, & find your tortured baby dead. Breaks my heart. Just shatters my heart. Unfriggenbelievable.
  • The NOT-A-Mommas who have a tribe of little kids, but can’t seem to watch them while crossing a street. Can’t seem to be able to teach them not to throw their crap & trash all over the neighborhood. Never stops them from destroying the landscape, vandalizing, & stealing from the neighbors. Looks the other way when they shoplift. Doesn’t care that they come home from 2nd grade with another kid’s jacket, back pack, money. Surprise, 5 years later, can’t seem to keep them out of Juvenile Hall.

(SAD Fact: the highest census of kids was on Thanksgiving weekend, when I worked at J.H. )

  • Road rage.
  • DUI. DWI.
