regardless of how they are feeling on a given day.
19. They take calculated risks.
20. They deal with problems quickly and effectively.

People born in the Year of the Ox are patient,
speak little, and inspire confidence in others.
They tend to be eccentric, and bigoted,
and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers.
Although they speak little, when they do
they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally
and physically alert. Generally easy-going,
they can be remarkably stubborn.

School bake sales victims of nutrition rules
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/27/BALJ13NP31.DTL
A twisted compliance to this::
The state guidelines, passed by the Legislature in 2005 and gradually being implemented at districts around the state, require that snacks sold on campuses during the school day not contain more than 35 percent of calories from fat, 1 percent of calories from saturated fat and 35 percent sugar by weight. Snacks must also not exceed 175 calories at elementary schools or 250 calories at middle and high schools.
Wow. Are the candy fund raisers next? The state better beef up the school budget, before they remove the best way for the schools to make up some of the deficit.

A liver & onions fund raiser isn’t going to provide much liquidity.

~ Looking forward to Thanksgiving. Joyful Family gatherings are priceless. Glad everyone gets the day off to celebrate & enjoy the feast. We always count our Blessings. Love the aroma of a roasting turkey warming up the house all day long. What do I wear on Thanksgiving?

Dad + Judo Team Award ~ Martial Arts in our lifetime:: In the past, I enjoyed seeing young C.F. take Aikido with Dad. We were so proud of Dad, getting his black belt in Aikido, at age 70. He also had a black belt in Judo. He was a Sensei for both Judo & Aikido. With his insistence, I was in the first Girls’ Judo class at the SFV Japanese American Community Center, back in the ‘60’s. I’ve beamed watching all 4 of my Girls excel in Karate + Kickboxing. I’ve seen my youngest daughter break boards in a Karate exhibition. Back in the day, I helped my brother, Dr B, when he came home with a broken collar bone from Judo (twice!). Last year, he was awarded his black belt in Karate. My Grandfather was taken away by the F.B.I. on Dec.7, right after Pearl Harbor was attacked. They thought he, & my sweet 5 ft. Grandmother, were subversive, because he had a successful Kendo Dojo in Huntington Beach, & was a community leader. They were so wrong. He had the honorable strong blood of a Samurai running through his veins… not the filthy weak blood of a subversive.

A tragic and insane train wreck occurred close to our home last Friday. It is painfully numbing and shocking; how could this happen? Our heartfelt sorrow & strength to all families & friends of the victims. A tremendous thank you to the brave first responders, who did an exceptional job.
